A dynamic warm up is a series of movements that gets the muscles and the joints specifically warmed up through a series of non-static flexibility stretches such as walking lunges and toe touches. A dynamic warm up should also consist of rapid eccentric and concentric movements otherwise known as a pre-flexion of a muscle joint to an extension of a muscle joint. For example, skips, jumping jacks, and plyometric jumps such as vertical jumps are all examples of a rapid flexion and extension of muscle joints.The goal of a dynamic warm up is to increase flexibility, get the heart rate up to sub maximal, and get the core temperature up and get the body ready for all out efforts on the bike such as sprinting, gate starts, jumping and manualing.A sample of a Dynamic Warm Up routine for myself is:•Jumping Jacks 1x20•Forward Walking Lunges 1x20•Side to Side Lunges 1x12 •Butt Kicks 1x20 •Arm Circles 10-15 seconds each way•Push Ups 1x12•Lunge Jumps 3x6 jumps•Squat Jumps 3x3 jumpsIf you notice, I touch on all the muscles that are attached to the hips such as hamstrings, quads, hip flexors/extensors, back erectors, abductors and adductors (inner/outer thigh)
